A time-lapse video taken from our house at NMAV in Deming of the aurora that was seen around the world after a huge coronal mass ejection from the sun. Taken with a Canon 60dA DSLR camera with an 8-15mm fisheye lens. Ten second exposures were taken continuously from 10 PM to 3 AM; NMAV - Deming, NM 5/10/2024

The aurora is visible in New Mexico tonight. It cannot be seen naked eye but the camera captures its presence as a red glow on the horizonlooking to the north east. The bright star in the lower middle of the image is Capella. A single 30-second exposure at ISO800 taken with the Canon 60dA camera and a 28mm lens; NMAV-Deming, NM 11/05/2023

Comet C/2023 P1 (Nishimura) discovered on August 11-12, 2023 by amateur astronomer Hideo Nishimura of Kakegawa, Japan. The comet has a faint thin tail going to the right. Open cluster NGC 2420 is also in view in the upper left of the image. Both are currently located in the constellation Gemini. The comet will grow brighter as it approaches the sun. A total of 12 minutes exposure with luminance, red, green and blue filters using a ZWO ASI 6200MM monochrome camera with filter wheel and the Stellarvue 7-inch refractor at F7; NMAV-Deming, NM 8/21/2023

Comet C/2023 E1 (Atlas) - It is pretty tiny and has no tail but it is a lovely shade of green. This is a Timelapse animation over approximately 5.5 hours. It is a periodic comet which will come around again in 85 years. It was discovered March 1, 2023. Taken using the Stellarvue 7-inch refractor at F7 and the ZWO ASI 2400MC color camera. Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks is a periodic comet originally discovered in July 1812. It comes around every 71 years. The news has been calling it the “Devil” comet, but we think the Millenium Falcon is even more applicable. This is a timelapse video by taking a series of 3 minute images over 4 hours; NMAV - Deming, NM 7/25/2023

Time lapse video of a the Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF). Note the ion tail continues to be very active and dramatic. This video tracks the comet and allows the star field to move. Time lapse video of Comet 46P/Wirtanen shot between 6:38PM and 9:38PM EST on December 17, 2018 from Canton, Georgia. It was taken through a Celestron 14 Edge telescope using TheSkyX to track the comet and allow the stars to trail. No guiding was used.The video was created using three hundred 30-second exposures with an ASI094MC camera operating at a gain of 240.
